Ahoy Landlubbers,
This week end I attended "Design Made" market, and it was my first ever outdoor market. Well, I got it all: Rain, Wind, Cold, Clouds.... I learn my lessons the hard way :P
The sun came out at the end though, so I can't even complain too much! It was good anyway, lots of lovely comments from people and good feedbacks...

and I met other designers who do really cool stuff... Chasezdesignz, who got me inspired to paint my boots, "coup de coeur" (how on earth do you say that in english) for Borderline Rifraf, I mean, giant krakens attacking big Tall Ships, I had to love it right? I also really love Giggling Gertie's purses and bags, super cute.

Definitly lots of success with my Helmets and Tees for men (note to self: have more XL men tees in stock next time).
Thanks to everyone for coming and I hope to be at Salamanca Market next year, so get ready to be MOnsterised!!

Hallo!

I will be part of an awesome designer market next week end, on the sunday 4th of December, in Salamanca, in front of Princes Wharf No.1

Recently I have been working on a nice project, very different than what I normally do:

Claire Jansen's poem book design. I find the poems very simple and beautiful, snaps of moments.

She called the book Landing on Snow, I designed it and illustrated the cover and some of the poems.
It was a different way to work for me because I am use to work with colors, (and monsters) but here we thought that the style needed to be black and white, light and uncomplicated.
A challenge for me, but I must admit that I am happy with the result!

Hallo hallo!

Got some exciting stuff happening to me.... There's the new designs I have created:

And I have just collected the screens today! They are beautiful! Thanks Pumpkin Print!

Oh Yeah I know, shameful, I didn't do them myself.... Believe me, I am so for the DIY, but I blame not having the right space to do my own screens at the moment.... hem. It's true! Yes! But I will do my own soon!
(Don't say anything to the Master Hiiraji, who spent so much time on me, trying to make me become a good soldier, and as soon as the highness turned away I ran off to the printer..... SHAME!

But the screens look amazing!!! There's my first trial:

I'll show the result on the shirts I have just received... and I'll be selling them online and at Salamanca Market very soon! stay tuned :-)

Yeah yeah, I am still alive. I went for some adventures in Far North Queensland for a month and it was delightful. Now I am back in my studio with lots of new ideas and projects. There's some photos..

Soon I'll be at Salamanca market selling my freshly screen printed T shirts and prints, so I have been making some new designs to make some new screens. I'll show you soon.

Also, I have been refreshing Monster Head (you know, my hand painted helmets and all).
I am re-doing www.monsterheadhelmet.daportfolio.com with lots of new pictures, some new infos explaning how it all works, and very soon I'll be painting some new "standard designs" that will be available on etsy.com!
Very exciting!

And there's the new logo I am working on (This time I will use this one for good), it isn't quite finished yet, I think it still looks a bit messy. There's aslo some business cards... not quite finished either....

It has taken me so long that I can't even remember since when I have been wanting to do this, but yes, yes, it had finally happened! I have done my first screen printing session, on old op shop clothes because I am too coward to start straight away on nice new shiny shirts :P
A HUGE thanks To the great Master Hiiraji who ended up doing the screen for me... I do know the theory but I didn't do it all myself at the end (next time I will, yes!) Now I will have to do lots of terrible things for the Hiiraji cause, long years of servitudes ahead, but it was worth it!!

There's a few photos, and soon I'll be finally selling some clothing! Stay tuned :-)))

This Week End I was at the Rockabilly Notion which was lots of fun: pin ups, awesome music, roller derby demo, and artists exhibiting their work and sketching on the spot... And there's what Sammy Johnstone drew for me... he didn't even try hey, it took him only a few minutes to do and it looked like it was the easiest thing for him... I admire people who can be so relaxed with ink, I always end up making a mess and wishing for a "control+Z" button.

You might think she looks quite evil....

Hello hello!

This week I have painted my own helmet for roller derby... not sure I can bare my derby name proudly yet, I have a lot to learn, but I wanted to experiment some new paints + varnish, so better to do it on my own helmet than on my team mates' ones! I had a few surprises,(definitly a good idea to try out on mine!) it turned ok at the end (not quite totally satisfied with the lettering but i'ts alright for a first try) and now I have mastered my new mediums! yay!
So there it is, all glossy and shiny, and I am looking forward painting my friend's ones!

It's a super cute green van transformed into a photo studio, and it takes really good quality shots. It was at the Taste festival in Hobart for the new year's eve. What a great idea! It can be found at all sort of events, festivals, weddings, parties.... so much fun!

I have started training as a roller derby girl (nipper) recently with the awesome South Island Sirens. Well, I am trying to stay stable on skates first.... not an easy job for me, but I love it!
So I have made a little quick illo cause I love it sooo much! :D
It's done in about an hour and half on photoshop Cs4!

It might be a bit early to talk about it, but I will be part of the christmas Market on the 21st of november. I have started to make new things for the occasion, more beanies, brooches, stock up my prints, and and and some christmas cards! It's the first time I am making cards so I am all excited.
I have given some new colors to some of my "already existing designs". I know what you think (or what the Captain Should in my head is telling me): I could have done some new ilustrations for the occasion! Well, first, I like to use designs that people are starting to recognise. Second, I don't have time. hehe. :-P

Well, same day, an other post...
I found a little bit of time on saturday to start an illustration that has been in my mind for a little while now; It is spring in Tasmania, and the trees are blossoming, it makes me dream of a pink forest! Then I guess I have slipped a bit, and as I was drawing the forest of my dream two creatures appeared in it........^___^

It's very very far from being finished, only a draft and I am not sure when I will get the chance to keep going, but I am excited about this illustration :)

And some pretty bad photos of a new helmet, I will get some better ones soon ;)

As the next Market is coming along soon, I have been back into the sewing world. This time I have decided to make little brooches, to wear on shirts, skirts, as well as bags or wherever your imagination can take them ^___^.

Hello!

Today I am taking things a little backward; I have made an illustration in the past called "The Fasticolon", based on a mythical creature. I thought recently that I need to do more research around my characters, and try to so some proper character design: so I have started with the fasticolon.
It is a creature living in the ocean, pretending to be a island so boats would set anchor on it and he would then swallow the whole ship and its passenger!

I have been asking myself if I should or not show this video here, because if I was trying to have any sort of credibility this might kill it until the end of times... however, because I don't take myself very seriously, and because this video makes me laugh and I had fun doing it, let me share it with you!
I did that with my husband, on sunday afternoon, with a camera and windows movie maker. yep. very pro hey. haha.

I think it was so much fun that we might do it AGAIN. ^__^

Good day :)

I will soon be part of an exhibition, "Rainy Days", at the gallery "CUBE art&design" at Salamanca Art Centre. We had to paint on 10x10cm wooden board; I painted with acrylic and took 3 squares.

The photos are not looking so good, I think it look better in real life :)

I have finished two new acrylics on canvas :)

The girl with the white fox creature was inspired by a book I just read recently and really enjoyed: Northern Lights by Phillip Pullman...it is perfect and easy for me to read as english is my second language, and I would love to have a deamon!!

The birds......I guess it is a bit how I feel when it is cold and rainy :P

And a design I have done for Gemini Tiger, really nice person to work with :))

This bird was created for a webdesign agency located in Brisbane: Stickybeak Web Design. Have a look at their website, there's some very good work done there!!!

It was a challenge for me cause I had to design half of it on illustrator, and vectors aren't my strengh at all ^___^
I did the line in illustrator and the color in photoshop.

Hello hello!

I will be exhibiting (and selling) my artwork soon: On sunday 4th of july, from 10 am until 3pm, at "The Market", the designer market at the Masonic temple, on Sandy Bay road, Hobart. I will share the space upstairs with Janny Mc Kinnon and her beautiful photos.

I will be there all day, probably doing some painting/sketches to kill time, so feel free to come and have a chat with me :)

Hey there :)
I will be exhibiting some of my work soon, so I am trying to have a few fresh things ready; I am working on this painting, I use acrylic on canvas and it isn't finished yet. It is a good exercise cause I realise how much easier it is on photoshop.... where the control Z, the color balance and the layers? ^___^
